Výsledky učení předmětu

After passing of the course Biochemistry I is student mastered of overview about cell composition, structure, properties and function of basic groups of biomolecules, e.g. amino acids, proteins, saccharides, lipids and nucleic acids. Further, basic knowledge about structure of biomemrbanes and types of membrane transport are introduced and basic principles of enzyme catalysis, kinetics and regulation of enzyme activity are elucidated. Next, overview about methods of isolation and characterization of biopolymers will be obtained and some applications including enzyme engineering and genetic engineering will be discussed.

Prerekvizity

Knowledge of organic chemistry, basic knowledge of physical chemistry.

Plánované vzdělávací činnosti a výukové metody

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Způsob a kritéria hodnocení

Credit test. Examination – written and oral part.

Učební cíle

The aim of the course Biochemistry I is to introduce cell composition and to characterize structure, properties and function of basic groups of biomolecules, e.g. amino acids, proteins, saccharides, lipids and nucleic acids. Further, structure of biomemrbanes and types of membrane transport are explained and basic principles of enzyme catalysis, kinetics and regulation of enzyme activity are elucidated. Next, methods of isolation and characterization of biopolymers are introduced and some applications including enzyme engineering and genetic engineering are discussed.
