The course deals with the operation of distribution and industrial networks, both in terms of requirements for power quality and reliability of power supply. Common methods of distribution network operation and fault location or indication are explained, as well as the issue of connecting of new distributed resources – focused on dynamic and static support (PQU characteristics). Part of the course is devoted to currently used standards for evaluating the reliability of electricity supply and power quality evaluation.

The graduate of this course should be able to:
- describe the operation and dimensioning of compensated networks,
- explain the differences in the protection and location of earth fault in the isolated and compensated networks,
- list the voltage characteristics of electricity supplied by public distribution systems,
- explain the method of voltage regulation in distribution network,
- describe the method of evaluation and indicators of electricity supply reliability,
- describe static and dynamic support of DER (PV).
Prerekvizity
The student should know the principles of solving asymmetric faults in electrical networks (method of symmetrical components), be able to describe and explain the basic principles of overcurrent and distance protection. In general, knowledge at the bachelor's degree level is required.

Způsob a kritéria hodnocení
The point evaluation is composed of a credit of max 40b. and oral exams max 60b. The credit part is composed of a separate project max. 15b., Credit test from the operation of distribution systems max. 15b. and reliability of distribution networks 10b. The minimum number of points for the credit is 20 points. The written part verifies the ability of students to apply theoretical knowledge to determine the conditions in the network during an earth fault and to orient themselves in the field of reliability of DS operation. The oral part is focused on their orientation in the thematic areas defined by the course syllabus.
Osnovy výuky
Characteristics of individual types of distribution networks structured based on neutral point connection, operation voltage level, grid topology atc.
MV distribution networks (possibilities of operation, criteria assessing the suitability of the neutral point connection - advantages and disadvantages)
Compensated system – arc suppression coil, ASC tuning, characteristic parameters och the compensated network
Earth fault location method, earth fault protection, earth fault characteristics
Concept of the voltage regulation in the distribution network.
Methods of voltage regulation on MV and LV levels, problems of voltage regulation.
Requirements for DER modules connected to the distribution system (static and dynamic network support)
Power quality introduction (voltage quality, emissions, immunity), disturbances, compatible levels, national standards, voltage characteristics in DS
Reliability of distribution networks - basic concepts, definition and description of distribution continuity indicators
Učební cíle
Předmět má studenty seznámit s provozem distribučních a průmyslových sítí. Cílem je seznámit studenty s podstatou poruchových stavů těchto sítí a způsobu jejich chránění. V poslední části předmětu je záměrem přiblížit problematiku kvality elektrické energie a standardy pro hodnocení spolehlivosti dodávky elektrické energie.
