Electrical machines are used in many areas of the life of society and are produced in large numbers and range. Electrical machines with low output and small and low voltage are one of the oftenest used kinds. In a wider sense, we term as small electricalmachines those having the output lower than 1 kW (1000 W). From the viewpoint of use, we can divide small electrical machines to those for general use and for automation equipment. Small single-phase and three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors are used oftenest. One of the most frequent types of electric machines is low voltage electric devices, i.e. those working with a rated voltage of up to 50 V. We propose the following course: To analyse the losses and efficiency theoretically and experimentallyfor the individual machine groups, to examine and propose measures to lessen the losses, to verify the proposals on concrete samples, and prepare source materials for implementation.
