The aim of the project is to do fundamental research in the area of selected CT methods based on nuclear magnetic resonance and ultrasound, with focus on the study of static and dynamic functions of temporomandibular joint. The project will concentrate on intracapsular diseases of temporomandibular joint, in particular discopathia (disk dislocation). The basic project orientation is as follows: optimization of MRI methods for the expected examinations of temporomandibular joint, design of new MR methodsfor dynamic examinations of temporomandibular joint, improved technique of ultrasound examination of static and dynamic functions of temporomandibular joint, post-acquisition techniques of processing an image weighted by chosen tissue property inorder to enhance the contrast, study of the pathophysiology of temporomandibular joint, comparison of the results of magnetic resonance and ultrasound examinations of temporomandibular joint, and evaluation and comparison of their precision, patient
