O projektu
The continuously growing demand for high-speed mobile communications leads to increased interest in the millimeter wave band in the range of 30-300 GHz. The project is aimed at the research into specific propagation characteristics of the millimeter waves in various rugged urban environments and suburban areas. The time-varying channel features will be examined from both the short-term perspective focused on very fast changes in the channel and from the perspective of long-term changes within a few hours or days. The project outcome will include statistical channel models created using real measured data. New findings are expected particularly in the area of channel analyses considering weather effects (rain, snow) and examination of long-term channel statistics. The aim of the project is to extend the current channel analyses to higher frequencies and new scenarios using unconventional measurement methods such as real-time spatial scanning of multipath components or novel data preprocessing techniques including machine learning.
