O projektu

Material systems exhibiting quantum properties play a pivotal role in novel quantum devices. Non-trivial topological electronic states are of particular interest due to their potential for hightemperature superconductivity and quantum computing. The introduction of 2D Metal-Organic Frameworks (2D MOFs) on graphene provides a unique platform for inducing and manipulating these states. In this project, we will engineer topological states using precisely designed 2D MOFs while graphene will be used as both the inert substrate not perturbing their structure and means to position the Fermi level within the topologically non-trivial band gap. We will utilize multimethod ultrahigh-vacuum instrumentation (LEEM, LEED, XPS, ARPES, and STM) to prepare and in-situ analyze the explored material systems. We hope that our pioneering work will open a new realm of organic topological materials that host topologically protected dissipationless spin currents, which are essential for fault-tolerant quantum bits and interconnects for future quantum computing.
