O projektu

Achieving the control of the magnetization of single-molecule magnets (SMMs) is a long-standing goal that would enable the realization of high-density data storage and quantum computing. We propose the investigation of the control and read-out of the magnetic moment of SMMs using graphene devices such as field-effect transistors, and quantum dots. Electronic transport measurements of thin-films of SMMs deposited on the devices will reveal the main properties of their interaction, indicating how it can be employed to manipulate the SMMs quantum state. We will explore different aspects of the rich physical phenomena present in the hybrid SMMs/graphene systems, in particular, how the gate voltage through the devices modifies the SMMs' magnetic moment, how spin transport in graphene is affected by adjacent SMMs, and how the SMM magnetization can be detected by the conductivity in the quantum dot. Additionally, minute changes in SMM magnetization will be detected by advanced electron paramagnetic spectroscopy methods employing Fabry-Pérot resonators and graphene quantum dots.
