The paper compares various types of cohesion tests used in testing of adhesive connection of two materials. The computational modelling using FEM confirms that all the usual or normalized cohesion strength tests result in a pronounced stress concentration in some part of the contact surface of both materials. This concentration disables any evaluation of limit values of quantities crucial for decohesion of the materials and the tests differing in a single geometric parameter of the test sample cannot be compared. The authors suggest torsion tests as more convenient for cohesion strength tests. The computational simulation of the test using hyperelastic FEA showed, that no stress concentration occurs in this type of test and the stress state is homogeneous on all the contact surface. This fact enables a simple evaluation of shear stress in the test. The evaluated limit shear stress should be the material characteristic of the cohesion strength. Some few examples were realized to verify this tests.
