Diffusion coatings based on nicke-.aluminides were formed on nickel, nickel-20 wt.% chromium and Inconel 713LC substrates using powder liquid aluminizing method followed by two-stage heat treatment in argon-flow atmosphere. Two main layers consists of nickel-aluminide intermediate phases between the deposited coatings and nickel-based substrate were formed, until the second stage of annealing temperature (1000oC) have been reached. These totla layers thickness during the isothermal dwell slowly increases. Moreover, in the case of chromium containinf substrates, the third separate layer starts to form. It seems that the chromium content significantly influences nickel-aluminide layer starts formation. Independently on the substrate for coating deposition used the Al3Ni2, AlHi and AlCr2 phases (last mentioned containing ones) werw identified. The microstructure of coating substrate interface were obtained by scanning slectron microscope. Mayer thickness measurements were measured by means of image analysis. Chemical composition were estimated using energy dispersive microanalysis. Qualitative and quantitative X-ray diffraction copleted by Rietveld analysis for phase determination werw also used.
