This paper deals with the automatic measurement workstation for the commutator surface detecting. The commutator surface quality is very important for the machine lifetime and service time. The measurement could be done through the contact method on the standstill commutator machine. It must be used another measuring principal for running machine. There is applied the induction analog probe, for ferromagnetic or nonferromagnetic object position sensing. It could sense the distance between the measuring coil and the commutator bars. The results give the information about the bar protrusion and the commutator offset. The final program for data acquisition and manipulation is created in Labview. There is the conversion functions for the probes, the measured vibration elimination, and the evaluation of the bar protrusion discrete function.
