Non-destructive acoustic analysis methods, the Impact-echo method as a traditional and the Acoustic Emission method as the non-traditional method for civil engineering, were used for several experiments. The principle of the Impact-echo method is based on analysing an elastic-impulse-induced mechanical wave. The thus generated wave propagates throughout the specimen structure being rebounded by defects located in the specimen bulk or on the surface. The time difference between the emitted wave and the rebounded one is captured by a sensor, which shows the signal waveform. This signal describes transient local vibrations, which are caused by the mechanical wave multiple reflections inside the structure. The dominant frequencies of these vibrations give an account of the condition of the structure, at which the waves are, rebounded. Acoustic Emission is a phenomenon of stress wave radiation caused by a dynamic reconstruction of material’s structure that accompanies processes of deformation and fracture. Crack propagation is one of the macroscopic sources of acoustic emission.
