Prostate cancer is a huge problem in modern world, mainly in the developed countries. It is important to diagnose this disease as soon as possible due to its high mortality. Prostate tissue has a unique ability to accumulate zinc ions. However cancer prostate tissue loses this ability. It is therefore possible to help the diagnosis of the prostate cancer via the isolation of zinc proteins contained in prostatic tissue. This isolation can be carried out using magnetic particles modified with anti-Zn-II-antibodies. Our objective was to create a procedure for isolation of zinc proteins from prostatic cells using magnetic particles and automated pipetting station. Cell lines PNT1A and LNCaP were used for experiments. Cell line PNT1A represents healthy prostate tissue, line LNCaP represent cancer tissue. There was decreasing level (10%) of Zn-II ions observed in the cancer prostatic cell lines for the 25 and 50 mu M concentrations of zinc.
