The goal of the photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is to create a 3D image of the tissue from the ultrasound pulses measured on the surface of the tissue. The contrast of the image is based on the optical absorption in the tissue. This article describes a study of photoacoustic tomography on human breast phantoms and challenges in the implementation of the Normal Adjoint Operator (NOA) required for the reconstruction.
