The development and design of modern power units require usage of an advanced calculation methods. On one hand they save time between primary design and functional prototype and on the other hand they enable optimize existing design. For kinematic and dynamic simulations of systems with rigid and flexible parts in automotive industry it is mostly used the multi-body simulation (MBS) software MSC.Adams. For finite element calculation in time and frequency domain as well as for preparing flexible components for MBS it is often used the Ansys software. The focus of MBS simulations are not only on displacements, velocities and accelerations of each part and also theirs cross interaction represented by plain bearings. The description of theirs behavior runs from the Reynolds's hydrodynamic equation, which is solved either directly or through databases of non-dimensional reaction forces in a bearing. Approach for the solution is either two- or three dimensional, which comprises also pin misalignment. The selection of these basic methods strongly influences time and accuracy of simulation.
