Architekt, designér, výtvarník a pedagog Jan Kotěra (1871-1923) se už během svého života a hlavně po své smrti stal mytizovanou, otcovskou postavou v genealogicky konstruovaném příběhu nacionálně české moderní architektury. Ověřením řady aspektů tohoto mýtu se zabývá nejnovější kniha Mýtus architekta: Jan Kotěra 150 editora Ladislava Zikmunda-Lendera a editorky Heleny Čapkové. Na příčiny, strukturu a jazyk budování tohoto mýtu se bude ptát přednáška jednoho z editorů, historika umění Ladislava Zikmunda-Lendera. V přednášce se budeme ptát, jak to bylo s Kotěrovou světovostí, jak to naopak bylo s Kotěrovou českostí a jeho moderností a jakou roli v konstrukci Kotěrova mýtu hrálo jeho zasíťování do privilegovaných skupin? To můžeme demonstrovat při nasvícení bílých míst v jeho světě: absence žen-studentek a architektek v jeho kruzích i jeho ambivalentní vztah k českým Němcům.

Anglický abstrakt

Architect, designer, artist and pedagogue Jan Kotěra (1871-1923) became a mythical, paternal figure in the genealogically constructed story of national Czech modern architecture during his lifetime and especially after his death. The latest book The Myth of the Architect: Jan Kotěra 150 by the editor Ladislav Zikmund-Lender and the editor Helena Čapková deals with the verification of many aspects of this myth. A lecture by one of the editors, art historian Ladislav Zikmund-Lender, will ask about the causes, structure and language of building this myth. In the lecture we will ask how it was with Kotěr's worldliness, how it was with Kotěra's Czechity and its modernity, and what role did his networking into privileged groups play in the construction of Kotěr's myth? We can demonstrate this by illuminating white spaces in his world: the absence of female students and architects in his circles and his ambivalent relationship with Czech Germans.
