Thomas Alva Edison is without doubt the most successful inventor of the 19th century. His most significant inventions are the record-player, light-bulb and telephone. Besides these he also invented many apperatures and technologies which revolutionized the development of motion picture technology. This paper will describe not only his tribute to this field of technology introducing his most siginificant inventions such as the Kinetoscope, Kinetophone and Vitascope but also his attempts of acting as a film-producer.
