Originální abstrakt
This contribution describes diaphragm discharge generated using DC non-pulsed high voltage in a small pin-hole in the dielectric diaphragm separating two electrode spaces in the reactor. Such discharge requires relatively low voltage (up to 2 kV only) necessary for the discharge ignition and moreover, its dual character of plasma streamers creating and propagating in both electrode spaces enables simultaneous study of discharge polarity effect on various processes initiated by the discharge in water solutions. The supply of high energy into water medium causes dissociation and ionization of water molecules and compounds dissolved in it. Thus various reactive species such as radicals, ions and molecules with high oxidation potential are created by the discharge and they are responsible for subsequent chemical reactions. This contribution summarized both chemical and physical properties of the diaphragm discharge in water solutions containing electrolytes and some selected organic compounds with the focus on the possible applications of these properties.
