Recently unexpected unsymmetrical settlements of long concrete bearers occurred at turnouts in the Czech railway tracks. The main reasons for this undesired effect have already been found because many research works have carried out in this field. The changes of bearer position arise due to the high stresses in ballast under underneath surface of bearers ends. The too high stresses cause gaps under sleeper for common track as well. Because the ballast bed might be overloaded it is necessary to found out an effective way how to protect it. Currently elastic elements are included into railway superstructure with the objective to decrease an influence of dynamical effects and simultaneously to reduce vibration and noise. European railway companies have recently tested sleepers with elastic pads in underneath surface. The using of under sleeper pads seems very efficient according to the recent experience. The paper is aimed in the contribution of under sleeper pads to improvement of railway track geometry parameters. The static analysis of railway track with under sleeper pads demonstrates the mechanism of the ballast protection against extreme loads. Saving of the ballast material and the lower maintenance costs could be another benefits.
