The FEM study presented in this paper is focused on the fracture analysis of selected cases of wedge-splitting tests carried out on cube-shaped specimens made of a quasi-brittle material cementitious composite. Several boundary condition variants proposed in the literature regarding both the loading and supports are investigated with the aim of eliminating or decreasing some negative effects occurring in this type of test. These effects may distort the structural responses of the specimen that are recorded during the test and then utilized in the determination of fracture-mechanical parameter values of the tested materials in order to serve as inputs for numerical analyses and predictions of the behaviour of real structures. The revealed consequences of the choice of test setup on the values of fracture parameters are discussed, and some recommendations for experimental testing are stated.
