This paper summarizes the results obtained from experiments carried out under pure rolling conditions with naphthenic base oil for a wide range of ellipticity ratio. Elastohydrodynamic (EHD) film thickness measurements for the ellipticity parameter k of 0.49, 0.71, 1, 1.43, 1.85 and 2.82 were made using a modified version of the automatic system for the real-time evaluation of EHD film thickness and shape.
