The tester was developed as a support device for monitoring and controlling purposes for SPS accelerator control room (SPS Faraday cage) in the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) complex. SerialLink interface and protocol is dedicated serial communication bus which transfers controlling data from control system to devices which set required parameters of particle accelerator. The tester is enabling manual inspection of installed devices which significantly improves efficiency of malfunction localization. The tester also simplifies installation of new modules to the system because all new modules can be fully tested before implementation to the full operation mode. The tester allows testing of two independent SerialLinks in the same time, data transmitting is manually triggered and received data are displayed on the tester display in real-time. The equipment is based on FPGA device from Spartan 3A family. The tester was developed in cooperation with the Department of radio electronics (BUT) and the CERN organization.
