Formation of carboxylic acids (acetic, propionic, 2-methylpropanoic, butyric and valeric) by Clostridium butyricum a Clostridium tyrobutyricum strais was studied by gas chromatogramy. The amounts of produced carboxylic acids were in no correlation with the species identification.
