Methods of physiochemical analyses along with the complex of other forensic engineering methods enable by the mutual comparison to determine explicitly for example the degree of contamination of surface layers, the depth of unwanted substance penetration into the building material etc. In such cases mainly the common building materials on silicate basis such as concretes, mortars, bricks etc. belong to examined materials. The following article describes the case of contamination degree assessment by a ceiling and masonry structures of a four-storey building, in which long before there has been a long-term leakage of lubrication oil from the machines. In this particular case it was necessary with the help of physicochemical analysis to determine the presence and the amount of oils, content of hydrocarbons C10 to C40 and the amount of PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) in present oils.
