Originální abstrakt
The aim of this paper is to describe the function of an experimental system for object tracking. A video-processing algorithm with several theoretical improvements will be proposed. This system is able to track down objects (such as people, vehicles, etc.) interactively selected on the screen by the user. The procedure of tracking becomes completely automatic, after the selection phase, and doesn’t further require user interaction. In addition, it is able to keep working flawlessly even after the tracked object moves out of the initial field of view of the used video camera. The proposed algorithms were implemented in LabView environment. Using a fast USB2.0 web camera, this system is able to process up to 15 frames per second, thus running in real-time. The main filed of application include security purposes, videoconferencing, or patient surveillance in hospital rooms.
