At the Department of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Brno University of Technology are development of the biorobotics devices runs in two trends. First, application of the biorobotic devices in field of robotics and a robotics assemblage. Antrophomorphic end effector (the hand and the arm) with human-like functions and the cosmetic appearance in framewoek of the diploma thesis and postgraduate education was being evolved. The later trend is orthopedical prosthetics. Previously works were concerned with the human hand and the arm replacements, in particular the design of forearm with active wrist movement and construction of the separate fingers with independent flexion/extension facility in the interfalangeal joint. The other work dealt with the EMG data reading and mapping out in the course of a various hand and wrist movement. Design of the myoelectrically controlled prosthetic hand have been carried out. However, practical application of this device would be problematic. The utilization of this work results to control of a antrophomorphic hand by master-slave system control appear to be preferable. Development of a usable myoelectric hand prosthesis runs at present. The prosthesis parameters and properties should be comparable or better then the commercial one. The hand will be able to flex/extend second and third finger in the interfalangeal joints and the thumb opposition (adduction/abduction) to provide adaptive grasp in the palmar and the pinch manner. This paper reports on recent and future developments.
