Financing of projects in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech and Slovak Republic

The objective of submitted article is to present the knowledge acquired from the research, focusing on the investment project financing in the small and medium-sized industrial enterprises in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The companies perceive the necessity of the effective project management; therefore, they do not underestimate the decision on the method of their financing. Both primary and secondary methods were applied to the research investigation. As regards the secondary methods, these were mainly the bibliographical searches of both domestic and foreign specialized literature, utilized as the theoretical starting points. As regards the primary methods, a questionnaire method was used in the first instance to collect the data. Such gathered data were processed, and on the basis of their analysis a smaller sample of respondents was identified to hold a structured interview. This method wanted to verify collected questionnaire data in more detail and to complete or clarify them in more detail, as the case may be. The current knowledge about the investment project financing points out the application of various forms of the financing. Among standard methods of the financing from the internal sources we can rank so-called self-financing, i.e. the drawing of the financial means from the undistributed profit and depreciation, or the financing from the long-term accumulated company reserves. As regards the external sources, the companies emphasize the grant aids, and the bank credits are frequently used, too.
