Focusing on selected aspects of stochastic discrete event simulation, a topic of maritime security has been chosen in order to provide better understanding of described processes which were fitted to a generally known real situation in the Gulf of Eden. An intuitive cellular programming approach has been proposed by the author to describe the behavior of the model, including stochastic effects on several levels. The probabilistic assessment of the resulting states enables for developing the most effective adaptive techniques for each individual object in the simulation. This leads to a better understanding of different operational policies, being able to visualize the extreme consequences. The proposed approach is applicable to a wide range of physical and natural processes where the main interest is the local space-time interaction such as environmental/water resources processes, disaster management etc.
