In the presented study, four pteridine derivatives (lumazine, lumazine-6,7-dicarbonitril, alloxazine and 7,8-difluoroalloxazine) were targeted for an investigation of their spectroscopic behaviour in the water/dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) mixtures. It was noted that lumazine-6,7-dicarbonitril showed a remarkable solvatochromic dependence on the DMSO concentration. and 35 % DMSO, when a noticeable decline of absorption and emission intensities was observed.
