A laboratory for students working on experimental parts of their diploma theses was recently established at the Department of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. About 40 % of students in the master study specialization Communications and Informatics have to design, construct and measure a product within their diploma project. A separate laboratory allows the students to be engaged in working on their diploma theses for some continuous time independently of the timetable of standard laboratories where regular courses take place. Specialized lectures are given to students working on their diploma projects. Activities within a grant project aimed at innovating the laboratory are described.
