Sensorless control of brushless DC motors using zero crossing points of back-EMFs is a low coast and popular method for low power to medium horsepower range. However this method has some drawbacks in respect of noise and speed control. This work proposes a method using a digital phase shifter to improve the previously obtained results in this area.
