BUT's internal grant competition knows its winners!
The competition for first- to third-year students of accredited doctoral study programs, announced by the Technical University on 2 November 2020 (deadline 4 December 2020), has been closed and the Rector of the Brno University of Technology, prof. RNDr. Ing. Petr Stepanek, CSC., Dr. h. c. decided on grants received and not accepted for implementation. A total of 34 grants will be supported (29 in panel A and 5 in panel B) out of a total of 154 evaluated grants. In this round, CZK 31.2 million (a total of CZK 31,241,232) will be spent on one-year or two-year, individual and team grants.
After the publication of the results, students will also be informed about their grants by the Rector's Decision. According to the conditions of the Internal Directive and the tender documentation, the implementation of grants will start on 1 February 2021 and will last for 12 months for one-year, or 24 months for two-year student grants..
Brno University of Technology (BUT) publishes the first round of Internal Grant Competition. The call is open for students of an accredited doctoral study programme at BUT enrolled in their first through third year of studies.
One-year or two-year grants will be awarded to either individuals or research teams. By obtaining the research grant the students improve their skills in research grant investigation or eventually in research team leadership. The research grant will also present an opportunity to broaden their competencies in research and development. New experience gained by the grant investigation should subsequently improve their success in research project proposal submission within both national and international calls for proposals.
In order to ensure a successful grant investigation a research or an educational activity abroad (e.g. an internship, a summer school, a research stay, or active participation in a conference) needs to be carried out. The activity can take place either within or outside of European Union. The involvement of a mentor within the grant will ensure professional and methodological research support.
The competition, evaluation process and grant investigation will take place exclusively in English in the Apollo IS (https://apollo.vutbr.cz/#/).
A grant proposal can be submitted from November 2, 2020 until December 4, 2020. The grant investigation can begin as early as February 1, 2021.
