On the project
This project aims to mechanically characterize the complex structure of hydrogel-infiltrated scaffolds to develop an in vitro model of the bone marrow niche. 3D printed scaffolds based on titanium and hydroxyapatite will reproduce the endosteal niche of the bone marrow, while interpenetrating and semi-interpenetrating polymer networks will mimic the reticular niche. In vitro model of the bone marrow could contribute to the development of treatment approaches for various hematopoietic diseases, such as leukaemia or anaemia.
