European Optical Society (EOS) - nonprofit organisation bringing together individuals, national optical societies and European optical firms. The Societyis mission is to contribute to the progress in optics, optoelectronics, photonics and relatedsciences, leading to the built-up and strengthness of european platform in the optical research, education and production looking for the 21th century. Doc. Tomanek was elected, as a unique representative of Middle and Eastern European countriesas a Member of the Board of Directors of EOS (for 1996-2000), and will be also a Member of the Advisory Committee of EOS up to 2001.
