practical applications in Czech and foreign companies.

• Poorly structured problems, decision-supporting systems, expert systems.
• Substance of change, essentials of Lewin's model.
• Change implementation methodology.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

On successful completion of this module the student should be able to:
• Explain how their role contributes to corporate endeavour.
• Identify appropriate supporting methods of decision making.
• Evaluate the decision-making systems currently used within his or her own organisation.
• Apply tools to support decision-making in poorly structured company problems (such as mathematical models supporting irrevocable investment decision-making, application of expert systems in corporate practice, application of neuron networks in company management)
• Analyse a change process and necessary managing and organisation and be able to offer a critique of current systems activity.
• Correctly select and apply in practice the earlier studied models of controlled change in a company.
• Analyse conflicts in a company in connection with the implementation of controlled changes in a company
• Critically evaluate basic principles of a "learning organisation" and apply them in corporate practice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Programme members will be required to submit for assessment a written assignment of between 2,000 and 2,500 words, critically assessing the selected change in a workplace (in the selected company), focusing on the factors supporting change or helping to block (break) changes or the factors decelerating the change process. Rather than a description of the change, a critical analysis of the change is required.

Aims

a) To enable participants to develop an awareness of, and become familiar with, academic theories, frameworks, managerial models and techniques that contribute to the concept of a changing and learning organisation.
b) To critically evaluate and apply appropriate strategic modules and techniques which may be relevant in implementing changes (both strategic and operative) within the organisation.
