FCH-DCO_FKDAcad. year: 2011/2012
"Physics of metals" follows the master degree subject "Metallic materials" giving students the newest information especially theoretical knowledge and understanding of latest findings in metal physics to enable them to solve independently the problems of basic materials research.Structure of metals and alloys (substitucional and intersticial solid solutions, configurations and lattices, intermedial phases, intermetallic compounds).Lattice defects in crystals of metals (point, line, flat and volume imperfections, their energy and interactions, dislocations in different types of lattices, dislocation densities, Peierls-Nabarro stress, grain and subgrain boundaries, phase interfaces). Thermodynamics of metallic systems (phase diagrams, phase transformations, nucleation and crystallization).Deformation of pure metals and alloys (influence of lattice defects, hardening, recovery, effect of alloying).Plastic deformation of singlecrystals and polycrystals (creep, fracture, superplasticity)
