Learning outcomes of the course unit

Completing the course of Organic Chemistry II students acquire the complex knowledge of reactivity and stereochemistry of hydrocarbon derivatives, carbonyl compounds, heterocyclic compounds, saccharides and lipids. The knowledge acquired enables to work both in research and practice of organic chemistry, control laboratories and state administration authorities.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the course General Chemistry. Knowledge of high-school Organic chemistry based on the text-book Chemie II. V kostce.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Completing the tutorial of Organic chemistry requires three successfully passed exams during the semester with total 100 points level when one of them must be over 50 points. The alternative possibility requires passing class exam over 50 points. The examination consists from oral examination only.

Aims

Acquiring deeper knowledge of organic compound reactivity. The course continues the previous course Organic chemistry I which makes a necessary prerequisite for understanding the subject matter of this course. The aim of the course is orientation in the chemistry of hydrocarbon derivatives, carbonyl compounds, heterocyclic compounds, saccharides and lipids.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Completing the tutorial of Organic chemistry requires the attendance and three successfully passed class exams. The examination consists from oral examination only.
