Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to understand more complicated Italian texts and listenings and deal with more demanding everyday situations at the upper-intermediate level (B2 according to the CEFR). They will be able to express themselves spontaneously, fluently and precisely and furthermore, they will be able to use more advanced phrases and idioms. Students will also have mastered a number of more advanced grammar phenomena and they will be able to talk about abstract concepts and present and justify their opinions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as a specified in the article 7 of VUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Grammar and vocabulary is practised in an ineractive way, with emphasis on conversation. Development of communication and listening skills using interactive audio-visual technologies.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To be able to get their credits, students need to attend vlase regulary (max. 3 absences/semester), do homework and actively participate in the lessons.

1. U1: pairs of pronouns, interrogative pronouns; at university
2. U1: pairs of pronouns in past tenses; italian educational system
3. U2: relative pronouns; jobs, job interview
4. U2: "stare per", "stare"+ gerund; CV
5. U3: adjectives and their comparative and superlative forms; on holidays, italian towns
6. U3: verbs "farcela" and "andarsesne"; at a hotel
7. U5: present subjunctive mood- forming, use; health
8. U5: past subjunctive mood- forming, use; sport in Italy
9. U6: imperative (I); music, Italian music
10. U6: imperative (II)
11. U7: subjunctive mood (imprerfetto)- forming, use; nature
12. U7: subjunctive mood (trapassato)- forming, use; protection of environment

Aims

Mastering vocabulary of 1 400 words, all grammar rules.
Translating more demanding texts, communication in speaking and writing, discussion related to everyday topics.
Level B1 of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
