Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to understand the latest technological processes of drinking water treatment, in water losses, the technical auditing of water supply systems, get the latest knowledge in the field, establishing personal contacts with managers of waterworks.

Structure and organisation of water supply and sewerage sector in Czech Republic

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Presentation of the recommended computational procedures and methods, photo slideshows and video sequences of real water treatment plants and supply systems parts, translation of foreing articles, participation in conferences, excursion.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Mandatory participation in seminars (only allowed two excused absence, submitting examples of exercises deadlines. Written and oral examination.

2.New methods of coagulation.
3.Sludge blanket clarifiers inovation.
4.Filtration with coagulant. Pressure filtration. Other types of filters.
5.Rapid filtration mechanism, filtration materials.
6.Membrane processes of water treatment.
7.Modern technologies in sludge management of water treatment plants.Automation of water treatment plants.
8.Water supply performance indicators, water losses.
9.Failures, technical audit of water distribution network.
10.Technical audit of water tanks and pumping stations.
11.Reliability of water supply systems.
12.Risk analysis, Water Safety Plans.
13.History of water supply systems in CZ and other European countries.

The aim is summary of knowledge in water treatment and its extension in new and special technologies and special problems of water distribution.
