English Pre-Intermediate 1

Grammar: present simple, wh-questions, present simple or continuous, past simple, comparative and superlative adjectives, countable and uncountable nouns, some/any, a lot of/many/much, future forms.
General Vocabulary: personal information, jobs, exchanging information, describing things and persons, question formation, word formation (prefixes, suffixes), writing an email, interview, filling a form, storytelling, time expressions, dicussion, expressing feelings, culture in the city.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will command the basic vocabulary from general English, the basic grammar rules, they will be able to communicate in everyday situations, to write both formal and informal letter, fill in a form.
The target level according to the CEFR is A2-.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of grammar rules and basic vocabulary at the pre-intermediate level.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods


Grammar and vocabulary are practised in an interactive way, with emphasis on conversation. Communication and listening skills are developed using interactive audio-visual technologies.
LMS Moodle and Smartboard.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To get the credits, students have to attend classes regularly (max. 3 absences/semester), do homework and participate in the lessons actively.

3. 1C Present continuous; the body, prepositions of place
4. 2A Past simple regular and irregular; holidays
5. 2B Past continuous; prepositions of time and place
6. 2C Questions with and without auxiliary; music
7. 3A Going to, present continuous (future arrangements);phrasal verbs
8. 3B/C Will, won´t p. 33; verbs
9. 3D Review of tenses; verbs + prepositions
10. 4A Present perfect (ever, never); clothes
11. 4B Present perfect (yet, already, just)/ verb phrases
12. 4C Comperative adjectives/ time expressions
13. 4D Superlative adjectives/ opposite adjectives, giving directions
