Public Buildings I.

The subject enables the students to gain the basic knowledge of designing various typological complexes in the field of public buildings. It constitutes a theoretical preparation for working out simple assignments in seminars and, above all, designing public buildings in the following studio tuition.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will manage knowledge of the public building typology, school buildings, management and administration builidings, commercial facilities and services, traffic structures.

Prerequisites

The subject is involved in 1st semester of study. It does not connect with any previous discipline. The prerequisite is the general knowledge of culture and history at the secondary school level.

Co-requisites

Basicaly it is an independent discipline with its own methodology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of Brno University of Technology Rules for Studies and Examinations. In this case it deals with lectures and seminars.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Analyses of realized examples of public buildings in writen form and visual presentation as a condition for classified accreditation.
