Operational and System Analysis

The course is focused on the introduction and practical use of selected methods of operations research, especially in the context of managerial decision support. The explanation goes from explaining the basic theoretical background to their practical application using SW MATLAB.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

By completing the course, students will gain professional knowledge, skills and opportunities for practical use of selected methods of operational research in business management. Thanks to the presentation and practical implementation of specific case studies, they will also master these selected methods and techniques.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching takes place in the form of lectures, which have the character of an explanation of advanced, methodology of the discipline and problems. Exercises mainly support the practical mastery of the material covered in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes


The following conditions are required for granting the credit:
Active participation in seminars and successful elaboration of a semester project within the set deadline.
Test requirements:
Successful completion of the exam test (min. 50%), form of the exam: Written or online test according to the epidemiological situation.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with selected optimization methods that can be used in managerial decision-making and to develop his ability to use this knowledge in solving practical and organizational problems of the company in the MATLAB SW environment. Students will also be introduced to the basic principles of modeling traditional management problems; master advanced modeling principles suitable for well-structured and deterministic control problems. They will apply the mentioned methods of operational analysis under the conditions of a specific situation.
