The graduate is able to assess the function of human psyche and social behavior of participants in transport and characterize mental and social processes leading to accidents or conditions close to them. From this point of view it analyzes the human-vehicle-communication interaction from the perspective of humanities, it deals with the human-machine interaction, describes and analyzes the function of the human psyche, especially in stressful situations. An important part is the analysis of road safety issues in terms of human factor and the latest findings explaining the causes of behavior in traumatic situations, especially in transport. The output of the study is also the ability to analyze and synthesize psychological and social impacts, as well as self-knowledge and communication in difficult traffic-related situations, knowledge focused on the consequences of errors and traumatic situations arising in traffic and their impact on the human psyche, including prevention. The course will provide the necessary competences, evaluate these factors.

Teaching is carried out through lectures and seminars. Lectures consist of interpretations of basic principles, methodology of given discipline, problems and their exemplary solutions. Seminars particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Conditions of graded course-unit credit:
Participation in seminars, compliance of assigned tasks, practically oriented excursion into selected institution.

1. Introduction. Human factor in transport, importance of knowledge of human psyche and behavior. Psychology as a science of behavior and experience, sociology and social psychology as a science and society, its structure and function.
2. Functioning of human psyche, attention, lucidity, vigility. Perception, disturbances in perception, illusions and delusions, methods and techniques of their measurement.
3. Personality, risky personality in driving, basic knowledge about temperament, influence on behavior in traffic situation. Driver and age specifics, old drivers, young drivers, gender issues in transport. Measurement of power and error, propensity to accident.
4. Aggression and aggression, conflicts in the transport social field, stress, stressors, defense mechanisms.
5. Behavior in various social situations, in the crowd, influence of emotions on behavior, behavior and socio-psychological aspects of behavior in transport
6. Altruism and its importance, especially in transport
7. Human-machine cooperation in terms of safety. Positives and negatives of development.
8. Psychosomatic aspects in transport. Significance of self-knowledge, behavior correction, illness, intoxication
9. Mobility and transport and influence on society and quality of life. Inclusive mobility
10. Communication in difficult traffic situations, importance of nonverbal communication. Mediation as a way of conflict resolution.
11. Traffic accident as a traumatic situation, possible consequences and manifestations on the psyche, impacts and their measurement.
12. Post-traumatic stress disorder and its solution
13. Victims of traffic accidents, victimization.

The course is focused on understanding the importance of psychology and sociology in transport, evaluation of the causes of traffic accidents and their application possibilities in the practice of an expert.
