Principles of Entrepreneurship

The course provides a basic definition of the whole field of entrepreneurship from the perspective of theory and practice. The course focuses on the development of entrepreneurial projects and their link to the development of the enterprise. In the area of enterprise development, it focuses on the life cycle curve of an enterprise, i.e. from the future entrepreneur's decision to become an independent entrepreneur, through the process of establishing an enterprise and managing it for growth, to survival or decline. In the area of entrepreneurial projects, it focuses on idea development, project implementation, planning and defining development goals.

Before studying the subject, students must have knowledge and skills in business idea development, management and marketing.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The evaluation includes an interim evaluation of the deliverables, an evaluation of the final presentation, a defence and an exam. The evaluation takes into account teamwork and individual performance.
Course evaluation:
Interim assessment for work during the semester.
- Project work - 40% (up to 40 points)
- External assessment of the project - 10% (up to 10 points)
- Completion of a teaching workshop - 20% (up to 20 points)
- 2 self-learning projects - 20% (up to 20 points)
- Presentation of selflearning projects - 10% (up to 10 points)
For credit, you must earn at least 20 points for the implementation of the tutorial workshop and the preparation of 2 selflearning projects.
Exam
Team solution of four assigned tasks. The evaluation is point-based, the total number of points is a maximum of 100, the final classification is according to ECTS.
Note
Students may be assessed for points gained in the continuous assessment. In this case, the assessment is governed by the ECTS. If they do not obtain a sufficient number of points in the continuous assessment they will take an exam for classification. Points from the continuous assessment are not transferred to the examination.
The final evaluation is concluded in a team meeting during the exam period. Students present project outputs and self-learning outcomes here. Presentation requirements will be outlined in the e-learning and discussed during the tutorial.
Participation in team exercises and other activities is mandatory, monitored and included in the final assessment. Students may miss a maximum of four activities per semester, including activities taking place during the exam period, excluding the final presentation. These four absences may be made up with additional projects and assignments given by the instructor. If not made up, two points will be deducted from the final grade for each such absence.
ABSENCES EXCEEDING 4 TEAM EXERCISES/ACTIVITIES will result in a FAILURE of the course.
Students with an individual study plan must consult with the instructor and his/her team for detailed requirements no later than the beginning of the semester.
Aims
Course objective is to give students basic knowledge for analysis and evaluation of own potential for individual conducting of business and formulation of strategic objectives and plans for entrepreneurial activity. Partial objective of the course is selection of appropriate business entity and for this entity to create business plan.
Knowledge: students will acquire knowledge of entrepreneurship used in entrepreneurial process.
Skills: students will be able:
1. Criticaly analyse and evaluate entrepreneurial environment.
2. Define, evaluate and choose appropriate form of entrepreneurial activity and to create business plan and present it to various stakeholders.
3. Analyse and evaluate position of the entrepreneurial entity on the market.
4.To formulate goals and plans of realization of entrepreneurial activities.
5 To control realization of business projects.
Competencies: students develope competencies necessary for creation and development of own company and realization of business projects.
