Practics of Functional Diagnostics

CESA-SPFDAcad. year: 2025/2026

This subject is focused on the extension of theoretical knowledges and gain of practical skills about methods and technology used in functional diagnosis. Students will deal with diagnosis instruments and their technical parameters. The next profit will be practical experience with instruments control, calibration and problems, which can appear during measurement process.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Test is oriented to problems during each measurements and their solvings.
Laboratory exercises are compulsory, properly excused exercises absences can be substitute at another time after consultation with the teacher.

Aims

Students gain practical experiences by working with diagnosis instruments, which are used in functional diagnosis. They also extends their theoretical knowledge about principles using in these instruments.
Students will obtain practical skills with diagnosis instruments. The student is able to:
- Choose suitable instrument and measure basic physiological parameters like weight, height, blood pressure, heart rate, breathe rate, oximetry
- Connect electrodes and measure ECG using clinical instrument
- Evaluate important parameters of fitness devices, configuring own device
- Connect electrodes and make measurement of EMG and evoked potentials
- EMG measurement using wireless system including movement monitoring
- Walk and stability measurement

The test is oriented to verify, that student is able to:
- Describe basic principles used in electric signal sensing from the human body
- Describe basic principles used in diagnosis of basic function of the human body like breath rate, blood pressure, heart rate, ect.
- Describe principles of evaluation of physiological parameters
