The selection procedures for Erasmus+ mobility take place within the set deadlines at the competent faculty. The main selection procedure for the entire following academic year takes place in winter (January), and supplementary selection procedure for mobilities taking place in the following summer semester takes place in autumn. Should there be any budget reserves, FRD of the Rectorate may also announce extraordinary call for applications.
Yes, Erasmus+ allows repeated study abroad or traineeships up to the total of 360 days in each cycle of studies, i.e. up to 360 days in the Bachelor’s, follow-up Master’s or PhD programme. This applies retroactively also to participation in the previous phase of the Erasmus programme (LLP). The minimum and maximum duration of mobility and the term of the relevant project period (1 June 201x - 30 September 201x+1) must always be complied with. Students applying for repeated mobility may be given lower priority in the selection procedure.
No, what this means is that at the time of the study abroad, students must be enrolled in at least the 2nd year of university studies (Bachelor’s study programme). Students in their first year of the follow-up Master’s study programme (“fourth-year” students) are naturally eligible for mobility.
This is not permissible. Students must be properly enrolled in their relevant study programme at BUT during the entire term of their mobility and during the academic year for which they were nominated for mobility. By losing the student status, students no longer comply with the Qualification Conditions of the programme.
The deadline is usually stipulated by the Participation Agreement at 30 days of the commencement of mobility. In justified cases, the deadline may be postponed. At the same time, students are obliged to report in writing any changes to the LA as soon as they occur, i.e. if a change is made to the study plan for a serious reason even after the above deadline, the Changes to LA form must be completed as well.
Yes, in case there are no changes to the LA, you need to inform the Rectorate and your faculty of this fact by the same deadline as specified above (do not forget to do so and save yourself the reminders from us).
The Learning Agreement must contain all the formal requisites, especially the exact specification of the manner of recognition of the proposed study plan. If the host university forms comply with these formal requirements, they may be used. Otherwise, you must primarily complete the BUT forms, or both sets of forms if the partner university insists on the completion of its own forms.
This is not necessary; we accept copies (even electronic) of all the mobility documents except for one – Confirmation of Erasmus+ Study Period (however, the copies must be properly confirmed and in sufficiently high quality for reading and printing).
Kindly request the Learning Agreement from the host university coordinators. If you are not successful, please ask the coordinator at the faculty and/or FRD of the Rectorate for assistance. This also applies to any other unusual situations you may encounter with respect to your mobility – meet your deadlines!
For mobility taking place over the course of two semesters, the LA and changes thereto may be completed either for both semesters at once in autumn, or separately for each semester. In autumn, some universities may not have a clear schedule of courses to be taught in the spring semester. Thus, the LA for the second semester must be completed before commencement of the relevant semester and any changes must be made within 30 days of its commencement.
At least 36 ECTS credits must be obtained for granting of full financial support for two-semester mobility. Obtaining exactly 18 credits in each semester is not strictly required, i.e. more credits may be obtained in one semester and fewer in the other (e.g. if there are fewer relevant courses), but the ratio must be appropriate.
This means a difference of around +/- 20% for example – it is not permissible to obtain all 30+ credits in one semester and only enrol in one course in the second semester etc.
You will need the acceptance letter and the Learning Agreement approved by both parties. Copy of both documents is sufficient.
The Participation Agreement is executed exclusively in person; if absolutely necessary, representation based on a power of attorney is permissible.
This depends on the currency of your account. The financial support can be paid in CZK to accounts kept in Czech crowns with any Czech bank, or in EUR to accounts kept exclusively by Komerční banka, a.s. Based on confirmation of participation in the Erasmus+ programme, you can apply at Komerční banka for more favourable terms.
Studis → Stipendia a poplatky (Scholarships and Fees) → Stipendijní a EUR účty (Scholarships and EUR Accounts) → enter account No. and bank code, select currency and print PDF request for confirmation of account. For the purposes of the list of financial support, the document will be recorded by the authorised employee of the BUT Rectorate upon execution of the Participation Agreement.
No, the financial support under Erasmus+ is paid in one or two instalments, depending on whether the stay exceeds the turn of a calendar year (accounting period).
Yes, in general, but you should always check this with an employee of the Department for Studies and Student Affairs of the Rectorate (in case of accommodation grants) or with an authorised employee of the faculty (in case of scholarships to support doctoral students).
Yes, the form of studies is irrelevant, as long as you are an active student of an accredited study programme.
Yes, just make sure that it complies with the labour law of the relevant country.
Unfortunately, Switzerland no longer has the status of a “participating country” until further notice, and it is not possible to study in Switzerland under Erasmus+. Applications for study in Switzerland must be made through other mobility programmes (e.g. Freemovers); other forms of support by the Swiss government are currently under negotiation.
Contact hours are shown on this website on the right side. They remain the same throughout the year; the FRD employees can substitute for one another and except for emergencies, someone should always be available.
Yes, you may submit applications for stay at various universities. You may also submit new applications in the following academic years, where the number of applications submitted or scholarships granted in the past does not affect the current application round.
First, you must register. The registration allows you not only to submit several applications to various universities, but also to submit applications in the following academic years, where new registration will not be necessary. Your data will already be stored in the system.
University networks focus on a specific subject/field of study/area of research. In practice, it means that you can only select courses corresponding to the focus of your university network from amongst the universities included in the network.
We strongly recommend that you consult the actual options offered within the relevant university network with the network’s contact person at your faculty. The contact person will provide you with further instructions on how to proceed. You may also contact Hana Philippi of the Foreign Relations Department of the Rectorate.
BUT is currently part of 10 university networks. The networks are listed at www.ceepus.info. Find the manual for choosing a university network here.
In such a case, you might be interested in CEEPUS Freemover. Find more detailed information on CEEPUS Freemover here.
The university network only allows mobility within the networks that include BUT. By contrast, CEEPUS Freemover allows mobility to any university network of which BUT is not a member. This is an opportunity for students who would like to obtain CEEPUS scholarship despite their faculty not being included in the CEEPUS programme.
The selection procedure takes place outside of BUT, where the application approval procedure is as follows:
The selection procedure results should be published within 14-30 days after the deadline for applications.
The scholarship is paid by the host university. The amount of the scholarship differs from country to country. Find more information at www.ceepus.info.
Travel expenses are reimbursed by the home university, i.e. BUT. After returning from abroad, the student must submit the originals of travel documents to the foreign relations department of the relevant faculty for reimbursement. Find more detailed information on eligible expenditures and the reimbursement procedure here.
No rule on the minimum number of ECTS credits obtained is stipulated by the CEEPUS programme. Thus, to meet the terms of the CEEPUS programme, you must obtain at least one ECTS credit. However, you must take into consideration the requirements of your home faculty and obtain sufficient amount of ECTS credits for enrolment in the next semester.
Studies abroad must be evidenced by Confirmation of Study (which will be provided to you by the host university) and the Learning Agreement/Changes to LA (these may be provided using the relevant BUT forms).
After completing your mobility, the online Mobility Report must be filled in. You will receive instructions on filling in the Mobility Report by e-mail from the National Agency.
The AKTION scholarship only funds the process of writing of a diploma thesis/dissertation and lasts between 1-5 months.
Under the AKTION programme, students may visit any public higher-education institution in Austria.
The AKTION programme is reserved exclusively for students of follow-up Master’s programme or PhD programme.

Since this is a very distinctive programme, the chances that your application will be successful are very high.
