Specific admission requirements
- successful graduation in an MFA or MA (both in the humanities and technical sciences). - outstading diploma thesis The students must pass the entrance tests in which they must prove that - they are interested and have the necessary knowledge and skills for being able to conduct academic research - they are able to read academic texts in at least one foreign language - they can reflect the given topic theoretically
Key learning outcomes
The Ph.D graduates must be professionals who will be able to egage in a wide spectrum of activities associated with visual arts and the art world. The course will prepare the students to engage in artistic undertakings in the public sphere. Their future activities can be manifold: they can become independent artists, teachers, specialists in visual arts and architecture, managers who run galleries, museums or foundations, or theoretitians, publishers or curators, who can organize theoretical and practical workshops, their own exhibitions, or implement artistic projects in europe and and international contexts. The graduates of the program will be ready to take part in making the social and natural environment in the Czech Republic and abroad a better place for living. The Ph.D. graduates will be ready to work independently in the fields of both theory and hisotry of contemporary art and to respond to current issues in contemporary art. They will be ready to teach at universities or art colleges and they will undertake the training necessary for managing art institutions, foundations, corporations, and organizations dealing with contemporary art. The theoretical and practical training will encourage the students to engage in further organisational and managerial activities within the context of contemporary art.
