Fields of education
Study aims
The Microelectronics and Technology study program aims to prepare specialists in the field of design of electronic circuits and systems, as well as in the fields of technology and materials for the electrical industry and other associated fields, as well as the preparation of students for the follow up Master´s studies. The Department of Microelectronics and the Department of Electrotechnology provide the bachelor's program Microelectronics and Technology. An extensive offer of compulsory, branch and extra-curricular subjects together with the semester and bachelor's thesis enables students to focus on the design and development of electronic circuits and systems, particle and material technology for electrotechnics, sensory and nanotechnology as well as alternative sources of energy, quality and control of production and many other areas. In order to broaden the spectrum of its knowledge, the student can also choose the subjects of linguistic, economic, administrative or environmental subjects.
Graduate profile
Bachelor's degree program graduate has a good knowledge of design and computer simulation of analogue and digital integrated circuits, design of electronic systems and applications of microelectronic circuits for instrumentation, analog and digital integrated circuit technology, electronic systems technology, programming of microcontrollers and FPGA circuits. The field of electrotechnical materials and production processes, the design and production of printed circuit boards, surface mounting technology, testing and measuring technology, renewable energy sources, economy and organization of production and business fundamentals. Alternatively, he/she also has knowledge of biomedical and clinical applications, additional knowledge from information and communication technologies.
Profession characteristics
Graduates of the Bachelor's program could be employed as professionals especially in the fields of design, construction and fabrication of electronic and electrotechnical devices and instruments with built-in intelligence (controlled by microprocessors, microcontrollers, PCs, Smart Phone or PDAs), integrated circuits and semiconductor devices, and surface mounting technology. They can also design and develop of electronic systems and custom integrated circuits, business and service activities, in lower management and managerial positions in electronic companies. Such high-level education enables the direct deployment of graduates into manufacturing, operational or service engineering and provides a good basis for completing the theoretical knowledge in a possible follow-up Master's degree study program.
Availability for the disabled
All lecture rooms at the FEEC BUT allow disabled access; students, however, must meet the medical standards to acquire the necessary electrotechnical qualifications. In laboratory classes and practicals, students are required to independently operate measuring instruments and related equipment without endangering human health or damaging property.
What degree programme types may have preceded
The graduates may continue in a master's study programme.
