Cílem projektu byl výzkum algoritmů rozpoznávání vzorů v obrazech, zejména prostřednictvím klasifikátorů založených na extrakci příznaků. Součástí projektu je i výkonná implementace klasifikátorů, která je základem pro vývoj řady počítačových aplikací a jde v současnosti o "hot topic". jedná se o technologii využitelnou pro průmysl, komunikaci člověka s počítačem atd. Hlavním zaměřením projektu je vyvinout takovou verzi algoritmů, která bude implementovatelná na akcelerační architektuře (spolu)vyvinuté na FIT VUT v brně a která bude využívat programovatelného hardware (FPGA) a signálových procesorech (DSP). Dalším cílem byla implementace a testoování takových algoritmů. Očekává se, že výstupem projektu budou zejména lineární statistické klasifikátory, které jsou dlouhodobým předmětem spolupráce s FEL ČVUT v Praze.

The goal of the proposed project was research of algorithms of pattern recognition in images, specifically classifiers and feature extraction methods. Powerful implementation of classifiers and feature extractors are basis for development of many computer vision methods and its applications that are currently a "hot topic" and that are applicable in the industry, human-machine communication, traffic applications, security, etc. The main focus of the proposed project was to develop such versions of the algorithms that would be implementable on the image processing acceleration platforms being developed at FIT BUT in Brno that are based on exploitation of programmable logic circuits (FPGA) and digital signal processors (DSP). The next goal was to implement and test such algorithms. It is expected that mainly linear statistical classifiers, which are long-term research topic at FEE CTU in Prague, and other selected algorithms.
