O projektu
Methane-rich biogas has become an important point of interest in the realm of renewable energy sources. Biogas fermentation process does not provide pure methane, it is also rich in carbon dioxide, which can constitute up to 45% of its composition. To enrich the biogas, the CO2 has to be removed. The project will focus on understanding of the biogas enrichment through rotating packed bed RPB chemical absorption. This fundamental investigation focuses on finding a proper solvent, development of a proper packing (wire mesh, metal foam, zigazag, and mainly Triply Periodic Minimal Surface structures like gyroids or diamond), investigation of the process under varying conditions and equipment configurations, hydrodynamic and mass transfer modelling, and model validation. With the use of a varied, international team from Poland, Germany and Czechia, a combination of experimental work (hydrodynamics and mass transfer), visual studies, numerical simulation, and rate-based modelling will be used to provide deep insight into the investigated process.
