Abstract: This article examines the cultural significance of Québécois cuisine. The focus of this paper is not only about recipes of excellent meals, but on their cultural significance which touches different levels of Quebec life. This paper shows that Québécois cuisine can be related to religion and national holidays; other meals have a more economic aspect to it; some are ethnic (i.e. outside the French Canadian paradigm); while others can be categorized as greasy spoon, but with a Québécois slant
